With over 30 years of experience in creating bespoke character costumes, Costumes With Character lead the field in producing premium quality costumes.
Our story started in 1986, when founder Liz Milnes began her mascot-making career with the company name of Situation Clothing. Her first contract was to create the well known and loved Welephant, the elephant for the fire brigades of the United Kingdom. The success of this character cemented Liz’s place in the competitive industry that is custom Character Costume production.
Hundreds of elephants and many other high quality character costumes later, Costumes with Character Ltd. was established in 2001.
Today, we are a team of passionate and creative individuals from various backgrounds relating to prop and costume construction, such as theatre based work, costume design, pattern making, model-making, sculpting, illustration and fine machine work.
Many of us have worked together for over 20 years, throughout which we have developed a signature style unique to Costumes with Character where quality, practicality and visual impact are of paramount importance.
